ADHD Cumbria

A little bit about us.

Rachael Davies and Cara Ferguson are chair and vice chair of ADHD North West, and are here to empower and support parents and children with ADHD and behavioral problems. Sarah Hewitson is our Special Educational Needs Advisor. Julian Swan is the treasurer and Paul Berks from Cerebra is one of our committee members. We are also very happy to feature a new website link to the West Cumbria Dyslexia Association, so if you want to know more or contact Doris Pearce please visit the link in the menu.

Rachael, Sarah, and Cara have children of their own with ADHD and associated difficulties and want to help others in similar situations. You can find out more about us through our E-newsletter. Subscribe using the form at the bottom of this page.

  • The characteristics of ADHD are in-attention, hyperactivity, impulsiveness (these are the core behaviors), but sometimes you may find that these children are insatiable, socially clumsy and unaccepted, have poor concentration , are disorganised and may have extreme mood swings.
  • Instead of looking at the negative side of having children with ADHD we encourage parents, teachers and caregivers to praise the children when they are good and to draw out of them their wonderful qualities and allow them their individuality.
